Despite occasional small gigs, Motlaila stated that they have not been sufficient to make ends meet, and she has been unable to secure paying work. Her attempts to supplement her income by writing a book about her experiences have also been unsuccessful, with disappointing book sales.
The situation has become dire, with Motlaila and her child being forced to seek shelter due to eviction from their home resulting from unpaid rent. Motlaila expressed her reluctance to rely on others for support, preferring to find a solution to her financial struggles independently.
Former Uzalo actor Glen Gabela, known for his role as Pastor Mdletshe, has opened up about the breakdown of his marriage due to financial struggles. In a candid podcast interview, Gabela shared that his wife left him because he couldn’t afford to provide the luxurious lifestyle she desired.
Gabela attributed his financial difficulties to the scarcity of acting gigs, which made it challenging for him to maintain a comfortable standard of living for his family. He recounted the painful moment when his wife decided to leave him, taking their children with her.
“My marriage ended because I couldn’t afford a house in the suburbs or a car. I was struggling to find consistent work, and my wife ultimately decided to leave me. She returned with a truck to collect her belongings, and just like that, my marriage was over,” Gabela revealed, offering a glimpse into the personal struggles that can accompany financial instability.
