A high school principal in Tsholo in the Eastern Cape has been arreted for allegedly kinapping two female learners at gunpoint from the school hostel and attempted to rape them.
Education provincial spokesperson Malibongwe Mtima has confirmed the incident.
“Yes, we can confirm that the principal is incarcerated as we speak. Details of his arrest are known by the department as we got them today at the court. The kids are at safe home and getting psychosocial support, they are also writing their examination.”
Mtimba says a team of psychologists have been dispatched to a school in Tsolo.
“A fact-finding mission by the department is being conducted by the provincial psychologist and the social worker to ensure that the department also gets its side of the story.”
The principal was arrested and is facing charges including kidnapping, attempted murder and rape, and possession of an unlicenced firearm. The principal is expected to appear before court soon.
