Limpopo Public Works MEC Ernest Rachoene has appointed 168 new permanent staff members in a ceremony held at Nirvana Hall in Polokwane. The new talent includes 67 females and 101 males, with a notable 80 young people joining the ranks. Additionally, two individuals living with disabilities have been appointed.

Rachoene says the recruitment of new staff members, will enhance the department’s internal capacity, including the DikgereKgere programme. This latest intake will bring the total number of permanent staff members employed by MEC Ernest Rachoene to 300 since he took office last year.
Rachoene says the new recruits are part of the commitment he made to capacitate Public Works and fight unemployment in Limpopo.
“This new recruit is not just about us making promises, but assurance that when we make promises we deliver. These are not just jobs, these are permanent jobs. I welcome all of you to Public Works and we are looking forward to your commitment” Rachoene said.

Ernest Rachoene, as the ANC Youth League chairperson, made a promise ahead of the 2024 general elections: to eliminate EPWP jobs, which are non-permanent, and replace them with permanent positions.
During today’s recriutment at Nivarna Hall in Polokwane Rachoene’s said he aims to permanently employ over 3,000 workers during his tenure as MEC.
