Ten people have been confirmed dead following a major bus crash on the N1 near Ingwe Lodge outside Louis Trichardt in Limpopo on Sunday afternoon.

Some passengers are reportedly still trapped inside the wrecked vehicle, and emergency teams are working to free them.

The accident involved a Blue Cycle bus hired by DNC Radonha, reportedly travelling from Port Elizabeth to Harare.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the bus ending up overturned on the mountainside.

Limpopo MEC for Community Safety and Transport, Violet Mathye, attended the scene to oversee rescue operations and provide support to the victims. Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and fire rescue teams, are actively engaged in the recovery and evacuation efforts.

Authorities have urged motorists to avoid the area and follow official instructions, as the scene remains active and dangerous.
