Lekompo singer and producer Mack Eaze has distanced himself from allegations of sexual impropriety made against him by fellow artist Ms Judy, labelling the claims as false and defamatory.
It is alleged that Eliot Kabelo Nthoke (26), popularly known as Mack Eaze in the music industry, attempted to force himself on Ms Judy during a studio session.
The Ake Laoleyi hitmaker has strongly rejected the claims, stating that such allegations are damaging to his reputation and amount to defamation of character under South African law, specifically the common law of defamation, which protects individuals from unlawful publication of statements that injure their reputation (Refer: Le Roux v Dey [2011] ZACC 4).
In a statement, Medhefo Records, Mack Eaze’s recording label, also dismissed the allegations, describing them as frivolous and baseless. The label clarified that the accusations relate to a studio session for the recording of the song “Together”, featured on Mack Eaze’s EP Ditaba Txaka, which recently surpassed 2.5 million streams across platforms.
“Certain online statements — particularly from a TikTok user known as Miss Judy — have surfaced, making unfounded claims about Mack Eaze’s behaviour and authorship of the song,” the label said.
Medhefo Records categorically denies all allegations of sexual impropriety made against Mack Eaze.
The label also addressed claims by Ms Judy that she co-wrote “Together”, asserting that songwriting credits are only granted to individuals who contribute original lyrics, melodies, or musical composition that form part of the final work.
“For educational clarity, songwriting and composition credits are only attributed where an individual has contributed original lyrics, melodies, or musical composition that form part of the final work,” the statement read.
Medhefo Records added that it views the matter as an opportunity to educate emerging artists on proper studio conduct, creative collaboration, and copyright ownership.
However, the label warned that continued publication of defamatory claims would lead to legal action.
“We strongly urge Miss Judy to refrain from making further false and defamatory statements.
Continued publication of these claims will compel the label and Mack Eaze to pursue appropriate legal remedies proportionate to the seriousness of the allegations,” the statement concluded.
